Meet Fran, A Mixed Media Artist

A California native, Fran Gunner is an artist known for colorful, bold, energetic mixed media works that are frequently thought-provoking and spirited. Her creations are inspired by the humor she sees in everyday society. Her keen sense of humor and quick wit result in works that are, at times, satirical and irreverent. Fran’s artwork is held in private collections across the United States, popularly featured in California shows and publications. Her edgier works include a series of contemporized queens, cowboys, iconic entertainers, and celebrities, as well as satirical twists on social issues. A self-taught artist for over thirty years, Fran gravitated to the arts from childhood. While a freshman at the University of Nevada as an Interior Design major, Fran realized that art and design were more than just a passing interest. After earning a degree in Liberal Arts and dual Masters, Fran began to paint in earnest.
